Who is behind it

The Borgata name comes from a land casino that MGM owns. The online brand is run by BetMGM, LLC, which MGM Resorts and Entain set up in 2018 as equal partners. Entain provides the platform. In New Jersey the online permit sits with the Borgata hotel company, not with BetMGM itself. Talk of a BetMGM buyout after a 2026 bid for MGM Resorts had led to no deal when we checked.

Licence and what it means for you

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) lists Marina District Development Company, LLC as the holder of internet gaming permit NJIGP 26-001. That is the company behind the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and borgataonline.com runs under its permit. The Pennsylvania version, casino.pa.borgataonline.com, is a separate state site. Borgata Online offers casino games and poker. For a New Jersey player, DGE rules apply, and the DGE runs the self-exclusion list for that state.

Fines and regulator actions
