The biggest online gambling fines: 280 penalties worth €1.14 billion

The online gambling regulators, prosecutors and courts we track have imposed 280 monetary penalties on casino and betting companies in our data (2017–2026), worth about €1.14 billion in total. The largest is GBP 585,000,000 against Entain plc (Crown Prosecution Service / HMRC (UK DPA), 2023), a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with UK prosecutors rather than a regulator fine. Next come AUD 45,000,000 against Tab Ltd, Tabcorp Holdings Ltd, Tabcorp Wagering (Vic) Pty Ltd (AUSTRAC (Australia), 2017) and EUR 24,846,000 against Novatech Solutions N.V. (Kansspelautoriteit (Netherlands), 2025). Crown Prosecution Service / HMRC (UK DPA) accounts for the most money (about €684 million in 1 fine). The most-fined owner group by value is Entain plc: 9 fines worth about €715 million. Another 137 actions in our data carried no fine. These numbers cover online gambling only: fines against land-based casinos are out of scope.
