Who is behind it

Kindred started as Unibet in 1997 and built a group of casino brands, several of them for the Nordic countries. FDJ United, the French national lottery operator listed on Euronext Paris, took over Kindred in October 2024. The French State keeps about 21% of FDJ United. Since the takeover, Kindred has left markets where it had no local licence, such as Norway and Poland.

The link between Casinohuone and Kindred rests on the site footer, which names Rol Malta Ltd. The same company appears on Unibet's Finnish site and on Kolikkopelit. We have not seen a group filing that names Rol Malta Ltd, so we mark the link as reported.

Licence and what it means for you

The Malta Gaming Authority licence MGA/B2C/1031/2023 covers Casinohuone. For a player in Finland, Maltese rules apply to complaints, player funds and safer-gambling tools. Casinohuone does not hold a Finnish licence. Veikkaus keeps the exclusive right to online casino games in Finland until the new Gambling Act takes effect.

FDJ United's head of Finnish operations told Yle that Unibet applied for a Finnish licence in May 2026. Our data does not say whether Casinohuone would run under that licence.
